Having gone through hostels at IITB & life therein for the past two months (this amount of time is rather too small but is sufficient enough if you r to analyse atleast hostels at IITB) I feel so attached & linked up with the entire framework at IITB & especially the hostels where our rooms have become our homes and friends our family.......:)One would feel how could such small romes incarnate into our homes, but the point is our thought and our way to accept the things can change everything........:|
Let me startup with a typical life in hostels at IITB . Firstly gng(dont dare think i dont know spelling of going) with working days..........
Day begins with alarms buzzing around in everyroom at 8am(or rather 8:15 for some). And then banging of doors to wake others up, rushing, running ,brushing (& bathing for some) starts up......No one would notice but the coordination v set up in washrooms resembles much of a family with no leader but everyone caring about everyother..........:)
Then we rush up (really all at one go) towards the mess. Only some properly setting up their plates and sitting on table to have breakfast, others just peeling off banana near dustbin, eating bread-jam/butter in the corridors.........( guys find a no. of new techniques to fill their stomach without getting late)......Some even think of skipping that so if its already 8:25 or 8:30, and the prof whose class its going to be is very strict & punctual ....(mentioning about prof C.P.Rao hope would make no harm to any).....:);)
Then an all time rush to go to classes . Tumtums are more prominent these times but one really goes lucky enough to get into that beating dozens of crowd all in want of same. We used to hang on back of its until they (actually I dont know who frame such rules) started penalizing us for that. Then classes involving rigmarolls of bouncing concepts & sleepy talks begin up, putting most of us to doze off for a while. After classes some come back to hostels, some go to library (me included in 'some' of first),some to dept. lab..... After having lunch most of us go for sleep to cover up morning leftover unless there is a chem/phy lab or mechwrkshop/engg draw. thereafter.........Then after having tiffin some leave on for their NSO classes & some open their books to get some of contents in their brain.....:):)
During nights the most of the essence of hostels come out. We group up to chat , discuss something(off/in syllabus). If its Bday time for anyone we like the most(unless its ours) to get him all wet & beat his ass with slippers & floaters until it all go red. We go to canteen, comproom ,play TT,chess,carrom....(note I am discussing a normal day not the ones b4 quizzes or exams, when everything goes off...)
If its a nonworking day then 15 to 20 hrs of its goes off in sleep. Messworkers would really repent their making breakfast for us these days for which no more than 20 of us really go... Most of us go for an outing to a mall or threatre or beaches..We play in hostel ground and mafia(as indoor)..Rains add on to our fun n masti. occasional events like waterfight,matkiphod.. go further interesting............
Thus howsoever bad it might go ( bad includes fungus getting on clothes, poor marks in quizzes, time all gng waste) we really love what all goes here. The nostalgic feelings of our home back has gone away striking only the times call come from there .
The very thread that binds all of us has really strengthened us to get over evrything ... We are now not just hostelites but constitute a family where everything from fun, masti, sorrow, tension, grouping goes on.......
